About

Georg Jensen Damask originates from a family of artisans going back many generations. From its modest beginnings in the 15th century, Georg Jensen Damask represents generations of weaving tradition through craftsmanship, traditions and design – which have been the leading principles of the brand's vision.

As Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, Georg Jensen Damask is registered as having regularly provided a significant quantity of goods to the Royal Danish Court. Also, textiles from Georg Jensen Damask have always won awards and international acclaim at World Exhibitions and Fairs.

The extraordinarily high quality damask, made from the finest materials is the main reason for these honours: Only the very best yarns, purchased from the most reliable suppliers are used - and the superior quality can be seen in even the smallest details in our fine collection which includes not only damask tablecloths, placemats and runners - but also beautiful luxurious bed linen, terry and kitchen towels.

Designers

Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen
The ARNE JACOBSEN collection was launched as a tribute to Denmark's world-famous architect and designer at the centenary of his birth in 2002. The unique combination of timelessness and trend originates in a large collection of un-produced sketches which he left at his death. The design was originally launched as a damask tablecloth, but the collection has since been expanded with place mats, runners, sofa cushions and bed linen, so that GEORG JENSEN DAMASK now offers an extensive collection of the designer's brilliant universe. Arne Jacobsen is famous for classics such as the Egg and Swan chairs, manufactured by Fritz Hansen, the Cylinda line for Stelton, Arne Jacobsen cutlery for Georg Jensen – and architectonic classics such as the Danish National Bank, SAS Royal Hotel and St Catherine's College, Oxford.

Bent Georg Jensen

Bent Georg Jensen
With his thorough understanding of damask weaving, Bent Georg Jensen was the driving force behind the weaving company's design development for several decades. He created numerous modern and classic designs and his ABILD tea towel has become a design icon in the GEORG JENSEN DAMASK kitchen collection. The launch and re-launch of the historical QUEEN MARGRETE I TABLECLOTH and HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN TABLECLOTH were other results of his in-depth engagement with the design process.

Bodil Bødtker Næss

Bodil Bødtker Næss
Bodil Bødtker Næss was part of the inner circle of textile artists around the weaving company in the 1970s. Her simple, stylized designs with a characteristic Scandinavian look play an important part in the collection. With the CHRISTMAS TABLECLOTH and EASTER TABLECLOTH, she has created elegant classics for GEORG JENSEN DAMASK. Bodil Bødtker Næss' use of unusual materials such as jute, nylon and tarred yarn was also innovative within the weaving of unique works.
